  • What is the average age of residents?
  • What is the male/female ratio?
  • What time are meals served?
  • How many meals are included?
  • Is seating assigned or open?
  • Can I take my meal back to my room if I choose?
  • Are there choices of entrees? Are there vegetarian options?
  • How often is housekeeping done and what is included in the service?

  • Do you provide a medical-alert type device for residents?
  • Is there a doctor on staff?
  • Where is the nearest hospital?
  • What are the factors and procedures used to determine when a resident must transfer from independent to assisted living or a nursing home? How much control does the resident have in this process? (primarily for continuing care retirement communities)
  • Are pets allowed?
  • Is smoking allowed?
  • Is alcohol allowed?
  • Are overnight guests allowed?
  • Is transportation provided to the grocery store, doctors, church services?
